“There is no such thing as a child who hates to read; there are only children who have not found the right book.” – Frank Serafini
Tips for picking the best book:
- Pick a book on a topic you like
- Pick a book by an author whose books you’ve enjoyed in the past
- Pick a book you’ve heard a good review about from a friend
- Use a system for figuring out if the book is too hard or too easy – read a couple pages. If you count more than five words you don’t know, the book is probably too hard. If you don’t count any words you don’t know, the book is probably too easy.
