When strolling through the Empire State Plaza in Albany, it’s hard to miss the impressive and unique artwork on display inside and out. It is that art collection, in the style of Abstract Expressionism, that inspired Mohonasen student artwork on display earlier this month as part of the Ninth Annual Student Art Show at the Plaza.

Nearly 70 pieces of artwork from K-8 students were featured in the art show, which celebrates National Youth Art Month. Students from Draper, Pinewood and Bradt were among artists representing 15 schools throughout the Capital District whose art was displayed at the show.

More than 1,000 pieces of student artwork were included in the art show.

At the show’s opening, keynote speaker Eleazar Hernandez, a professor of Graphic and Media Design at The Sage College of Albany, spoke about how he has been inspired by minimalism, Swiss design, modern art and my Latino culture.

Congratulations to all of our Mohon student-artists!
