They programmed robots and extracted iron from cereal, dissolved different substances, tested hypotheses, and learned all about animals.

In all, about 180 scientists from Pinewood and Bradt schools solved problems, tested experiments and made projects as part of the 2nd annual Science Fair. As they displayed their work Feb. 8 at Mohonasen High School, the young scientists shared the results from their experiences with inquisitive visitors.

The Science Fair is an experiential, non-competitive event designed to inspire curiosity and interest in the scientific method and experimentation. All students who submitted a project or experiment were recognized for their effort and participation.

“The Science Fair is a perfect way for students to learn and have fun with science outside the classroom,” said Academic Administrator for Science and Technology Makensie Bullinger. “The range of experiments and projects was impressive, and the students did a fantastic job sharing their knowledge with Science Fair visitors. We are incredibly proud of their excellent work.”

Special thanks to the K-5 Science Committee members, Draper Middle School Science Club and Mohonasen High School Science Honors Society members for helping make this a successful event.
