As part of our Earth Week Celebration at Pinewood Elementary School this week, we are collecting canned food items as a Pinewood community. Those food items will be used to construct a “Pinewood Giving Tree.”  The tree will be on display for a week in the cafeteria, and then the food will be donated to the Schenectady City Mission.

We are asking our Pinewood students and community to help participate in this project by bringing in cans of food so that we can construct our “Pinewood Giving Tree” during our CANstruction project on Thursday, April 27.  Pinewood students will also have the opportunity to work  with Mohonasen High School engineering mentors to create the structure, which symbolizes and represents  not only giving back to the environment but also to our community and others.

The “Pinewood Giving Tree” will be on display in the cafeteria the week of May 1-5 so that all students can see what they contributed towards building.

The following canned items are needed to construct our tree.:

  • Jif Creamy Peanut Butter (16 oz)
  • Del Monte Fresh Cut Sweet Peas
  • Hormel chili w/ beans (15 oz)
  • Del Monte Green Bean Cuts
  • Musco Family Olive Company Pearls Pitted California Ripe Olives – medium (6 oz)
  • Del Monte Fresh Cut Leaf Spinach
  • Hunt’s Tomatoes Sauce
  • Del Monte Fresh Cut Golden Sweet Corn Whole Kernel Corn
  • Progresso Traditional Italian Style Wedding Soup (18.5 oz)
  • Del Monte Mixed Vegetables
  • Progresso Traditional Hearty Chicken and Rotini Soup (19 oz)

If you have questions please email lsherman@mohonasen.org or call Pinewood at 356-8430, leave a message and someone will return your call.

Thank you for your support.
