Draper Middle School TV (DMSTV) club members saw their own knowledge about TV production come to life when they visited Time Warner Cable News in late May for a behind-the-scenes look at an established news station. DMSTV students conduct a live TV broadcast each morning at Draper to deliver daily announcements, lunch, weather and fun facts to all middle school homerooms.
Time Warner Cable News Executive Producer and Mohonasen alumna Karen Male hosted the students during their outing, where their gained hands-on experience with Julie Chapman, news anchor, Ryan Finn, meteorologist, and many other TWC News employees in studios and technology rooms.
“DMSTV wants to send a big thank you to everyone at TWC News for being so friendly and welcoming to our students and to Deb Male, our principal and Karen’s mom, for helping set up the trip,” Draper teacher Erika Pangburn said.
