Dear Parents and Guardians of Seniors,
I hope that this letter finds you well. A stakeholder committee including parents, teachers and other school staff have been hard at work planning for all the ways that we will recognize and acknowledge our seniors. A focus of our conversations this year has been returning to a sense of normalcy, with the pinnacle being a full and traditional graduation ceremony.
Our first choice would have been to hold a traditional graduation at Proctors Theatre, the same as has been done in recent tradition. Up until very recently, Proctors maintained a vaccination requirement for any and all attendees and still maintains a masking requirement. For these reasons, our team decided to consider other options for this year.
I’d like to share the basics of these options, and then ask that you complete a brief survey to share your preference.
Indoor Event at a Local Facility
A traditional graduation ceremony held at the Egg, or somewhere similar. It would be at a theater, arena, or facility that does not currently have Covid masking or vaccination requirements. Parking and handicapped access would be within the facility’s plan and likely ADA-compliant.
Outdoor Event on Campus
A traditional graduation ceremony held on our turf field and hosted by a professional vendor with the experience of outdoor ceremonies, concerts and the like. Our campus does not currently have masking or vaccination requirements. A possible backup plan in the event of extreme weather would mean adjusting the time of day or include the use of our gymnasium (still professionally hosted) and streaming to the auditorium and LGI as needed. Parking needs would be addressed through satellite parking lots and shuttle buses. Handicapped access would be addressed through special designated parking areas and the use of golf carts to shuttle non-ambulatory guests.
Keeping these options in mind, kindly complete this survey. Thanks for sharing your feedback! We look forward to celebrating the Class of 2022. Please complete the survey by March 24.
Best,
Craig
