Budget hearing and meeting the candidates

The Mohonasen Board of Education will host a budget hearing at 6 p.m., Monday, May 10, in the high school LGI. Attendees will have an opportunity to “meet” the board candidates following the hearing.

The Meet the Candidates portion will involve candidates reading prepared opening and closing statements and responding to questions from Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Laurel Logan-King, who will moderate the event. The public may view the the event but will not be able to ask their own questions. Here are the candidates’ bios, photos and statements.

Seating is limited in the LGI and social distancing will be practiced. Therefore, those wishing to attend are asked to RSVP to Kate Barry at kbarry@mohonasen.org to reserve a seat. The hearing, as well as the Meet the Candidates portion of the evening, will be livestreamed from the LGI and recorded for future viewing. The link to the livestream will be posted on the district website by Monday morning on May 10.

If you’re filling out an absentee ballot

Absentee ballots are available, upon request, to Mohonasen residents who will be out of town or unable to vote in person due to illness or disability. This year, Executive Order 202.81 allows voters who are concerned about contracting COVID-19 to select “illness” when requesting an absentee ballot. To vote via absentee ballot, district residents must first complete and sign Absentee ballot application 2021.

A completed application must be received by the District Clerk at least seven (7) days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter or the day before the election if the ballot is to be picked up at the District Office. The ballot itself must be returned to the District Clerk no later than 5 p.m. on the day of the election. Please email clerk@mohonasen.org to ensure timely receipt of an absentee ballot for the 2021 school budget vote/board election.
