See the following important message from MHS Principal Chandler:
Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,
I hope that this communication finds you well and that you and your family are able to enjoy this holiday season. I have some updates to share with you in regard to our schedule in January as well as some things to know about snow days. I’d also like to remind you of our procedures for students and families electing to participate in our CRL (completely remote learning) program.
On January 25th and 26th, we will hold virtual-only instruction. There will be no in-person learning on those days. For those in the hybrid program, this will impact one day of in-person learning for students in each Group (1 and 2). The rotational calendar days will remain the same, with the 25th being an all-virtual D day, and the 26th being an all-virtual A day. The learning for these days will be entirely asynchronous, so students will work at their own pace, and will not be attending any Google Meets. We will resume in-person learning on the 27th, with a B day and then continue on the 28th with a C day. Friday, the 29th is a D day but it is also a half day of instruction, so all of our classes on that day will be shortened. The full rotation calendar as well as the regular bell schedule and the bell schedule for shortened classes is available on the school website.
As we approach a season of colder and possibly inclement weather, please remember that we will be conducting virtual-only days in place of typical snow days. The only exception to this would be if there were widespread power and internet outages that would impact our ability to connect with students virtually. On a virtual-only snow day, students will be expected to check in via Google Meet with their Period 1 teacher at 7:35AM. Students will then work asynchronously with learning materials provided via Google Classroom for the classes that would have been held on that rotational calendar day. While the overall time commitment on a virtual snow day will be less than a regular school day, students may still be expected to complete and submit assignments.
Lastly, please follow your selected instructional model in earnest. Most importantly, if you are a hybrid learner, and it is your in-person day, you are expected to physically be in school. I understand that circumstances arise which may make this a challenge on any particular day. In that case, parents, please call the attendance office as you would in a typical school year to notify us of your child’s absence. Parents, if you are choosing to change your child’s instructional model from hybrid to CRL (completely remote learning), you must contact the Main Office to request this change. Please avoid having your child learn from home without an official change to your selected instructional model.
I wish you all the happiest of holiday seasons! As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at any time.
Sincerely,
Craig
