Dear Parent/Guardian,
We, the nurses, are here for you during this difficult time. As Pinewood is now closed I am still reachable by email. If you need to pick up any medications for your child please contact us via email to make arrangements. As always, your family physician is the best resource for questions regarding your child’s health but we are here to assist you with questions you may have, as there are many confusing reports out there at this time. We have been gathering information regularly from the news and the CDC website, www.cdc.gov. We continue to recommend the following practices essential at this time.
- Wash your hands regularly for 20 seconds with soap and water or alcohol-based hand gel when soap and water are unavailable prior to eating and after being at the store and especially after coughing, sneezing.
- Wearing a mask in public places is now advisable. Directions for making masks are available online on the CDC website.www.cdc.gov.
- Continue social distancing. If you experience any cold or flu symptoms. STAY HOME, rest and drink plenty of fluids and you will help prevent others from catching your illness.
- Phone call to physician is absolutely necessary prior to going to the doctor to evaluate as the ability to test for the virus is now becoming available in select locations in the area by appointments only.
It is important to have exercise as a part of the routine for the day. Going outside is a good diversion as well as exercise indoors. Please note that tick season has started. Please check your children for ticks after they have been outside. Wear light-colored clothing so that ticks are more visible on the clothes. Checking the hairline and behind the ear as well.
As spring has arrived seasonal allergies and asthma issues will pick up. Please check medicines and inhalers for the amount of doses available, expiration dates to prevent the possibility of not having medicine available during a flare-up. If you need an inhaler from school please notify me so I can make arrangements for a pickup.
If you have physicals completed by your physician you can upload them and send them via email or have the physician’s office fax to me with our health office direct fax number 518 356 8439. We have enjoyed working with your children. It was wonderful to see many of them at the car parade. We look forward to hearing that school is back open and we can see our students again,
